Working as a Stylist for Catwalk Model Management

In December 2013 I spent a day working with Catwalk Model Management (http://catwalk-uk.com/) on a model shoot. This was great fun. I was challenged with the task of creating two styles for a female model that would be suitable for a commercial shoot both inside and outdoors.

Yesterday I received back my portfolio shots (2 from each style, 4 in total) and was very pleased with the results (see shots below). I was also given a great reference from Rachel Moody at Catwalk Model Management which was greatly appreciated. Hopefully I will have the opportunity to work with the guys again in the near future 😀

Happy New Year… My Advice For You Is…

Christmas Party!!!! X

One of the best things about Christmas time? Staff party!! And this year we did it in true Leeds style. The HOB team finished up for the day, beautified ourselves and got ready to paint the town red!

First port of call was a meal at Revolutions; we decided this was best to line our stomachs for the night ahead… and then we descended upon the bars like alcohol was about to go out of fashion 😀

Not that I can remember too much from the night. Thankfully there were cameras about to document the night for us. Let me share some of the best shots with you all… x

Cutting hair at Warehouse in Leeds

Today I had the pleasure of setting up my station in the heart of Warehouse Fashion Store in the hussle and bustle of Leeds Trinity Shopping Centre.

In the run up to Christmas everybody wants to look their best, and today it was my duty to promote the HOB Salon brand by offering free haircuts, styling and blow-drying to the customers of Warehouse Fashion Brand.

It was a great day and I was able to make a lot of customers very happy which is always the aim. If you are about in Leeds Trinity and looking for a good outfit then make sure you drop by Warehouse. I picked up a black jumpsuit and a few other bits and bobs from the store and they are great!

Do you have a Celebrity Look’a’Like?

They say everybody has a famous face that resembles their own. My supposed Celeb Look’a’Like was pointed out to me this week by my boyfriend’s little sister Becky who messaged me on Facebook to say with my new haircut I have the look of Miley Cyrus.

I love Miley Cyrus (minus the twerking), she has such a distinctive style and her short hair with lipstick is a very bold and confident look.

Back to Short Hair

Long hair was fun… I enjoyed my time as a brunette. But they do say blonde’s have all the fun. I’ve changed my hair so many times over the past 12 months, maybe it’s a hairdresser thing? But recently I decided to go back to my trademark short crop and asked Ben (from HOB Salon) to give me a style over… the outcome? LOVE IT 😀 x

All Girls Love TOPSHOP!

Usually I’m in TopShop as a customer, but today I got to cut hair for the customer’s of TopShop 😀

Winter is approaching, and people are starting to venture out to look at possible bargains for Christmas Presents. What better a time than to do some Salon promotion. Myself and a few of the HOB Salon team pitched up at TopShop and had a bloody good time beautifying the customers in Leeds. Working at Leeds Fashion Show 2013

This week, because we were event sponsors, the HOB Salon Leeds team were drafted in to work with the models backstage for Leeds Fashion Show. This was epic fun. I got my own pass and had the task of making the models look the sh*t by cutting and styling their hair before they went on stage to strut their stuff.

Don’t get me wrong, this was a chaotic event backstage and there was never a moment to rest, but the show was a fantastic success and we all gave ourselves a big pat on the back afterwards for our contribution.

Hosted by the charismatic Kim Anyanwu, the evening consisted of two parts featuring collections by independent designers as well as boutiques in the local area, some of which included Bo Carter, Zara Mia, Gwein Reid and Charlotte Lucy. Designer of the year award went to Mabel winning the opportunity for the collection to be sold on the Accent Clothing website.

It was a great experience being a part of it and hopefully I get the opportunity to be involved again next year…

My week in Camden, London at the HOB Academy

Fresh back from my week of training with the big wigs in London I must admit it feels great to back in my favourite City (Leeds) and the comfort of my own bed. That said, I really enjoyed being in the Capital too, and visiting the London Academy was also a great experience.

The course was split up into 5 different days running from Monday to Friday, and I was able to learn a lot not just about hairdressing, but also about the history of the HOB Brand which is important too.

The salon has great history and at it’s lead are some of the industry’s finest such as Akin Konizi (HJ’s British Hairdresser of the Year 2008, 2009 & 2011), Darren Bain (London’s Hairdresser of the Year 2009) and Sean Dawson (London’s Hairdresser of the Year 2013).

Ever a growing brand the Salon is able to boast a strong celebrity clientele such as the likes of Pixie Lott, Paris Hilton, Ellie Goulding, Lemar, TOWIE, etc, etc.
